He added that his artistic growth was tied to becoming a better husband, son, and human being, crediting small but meaningful changes, like prioritizing his mother’s calls, for opening doors in his life. He praised the dedication of players such as Jeffery Simmons, who got in shape during the offseason, and Cam, who wakes up at 4 a.m. to train.
Urging them to use their road time to strengthen personal bonds, he joked, “Y’all are stuck with each other. This is the time, more than ever, to get to know each other’s grannies.” It was then that Jelly Roll revealed his dramatic weight loss. “I ride for this team. I can’t get to the field, but I’m close. I lost 200 pounds,” he said, teasing the coach that he might earn a contract if he shed another 50.
